South Western Region Transportation
Overview: The public is invited to participate in a review and evaluation of the transportation planning process in the South Western Region of Connecticut as conducted by the South Western Regional Planning Agency (SWRPA) and the South Western Region Metropolitan Planning Organization. The review is being undertaken by the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) in accordance with federal regulations. The transportation planning certification review on June 27, 2005 provides the opportunity to learn about South Western Region transportation planning program and to meet with federal, state, regional and local officials who are involved in the process. Invitation to Participate and Comment: As a participant, partner or interested party, you are invited to comment on the transportation planning process in the South Western Region of Connecticut which includes the towns of Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford, Weston, Westport and Wilton. The South Western Regional Planning Agency (SWRPA) is the transportation planning agency for the Metropolitan Planning Organization of the South Western Region (SWRMPO). The SWRMPO develops the long range transportation plan, the transportation improvement program (TIP) which programs available federal funds, and the unified planning work program (UPWP). Through the transportation planning program, studies and activities are conducted to identify and resolve transportation issues. The goal is to develop a comprehensive program to promote mobility, accessibility, safety and commuter choice for the movement of people and goods.
