MPO Public Involvement Procedures

The transportation planning process must include a proactive public involvement process. The public involvement process developed for the South Western Region is designed to provide complete information, timely public notice, full public access to key decisions, support early and continuing involvement of the public in developing plans and TIPs, and conform to federal transportation planning requirements.

The process includes a variety of techniques including:

  • Open public meetings
  • Published calendar of meetings
  • Formal legal notices
  • Mailing lists, and
  • Project Advisory Committees.

Resolution #97-015 describes the MPO's Public Involvement Process endorsed December 4, 1997.
