Overview:
The South Western Regional Planning Agency (SWRPA), in partnership with the Westport Transit District, Conducting a study to explore ways to improve bus service in Westport. The purpose of the study is to assess current operations and develop an updated recommended service and governance plan for bus services, including fixed route, ADA, services for the elderly, services to the two Westport rail stations, off-site parking, and after school shuttle activities. The goal of the study is to ultimately update existing service to better serve residents’ travel needs into the future.

An Open House is scheduled for June 12, 2013 from 7:30 to 9:30PM in the Westport Town Hall Auditorium. located at 110 Myrtle Avenue in Westport.

The purpose of the open house is to introduce the public to the study and to gather input on current and desired bus routes, as well as the times of day service should operate. This is an opportunity for the public to obtain information about the study and reshape the routes and schedule of the bus service, as appropriate, early in the process.
The open house will include a brief presentation at 8 PM. The study team will present information on the study, including its objectives, products, and current service areas. In addition, there will be small group discussions and a question-and-answer period. SWRPA, Westport Transit District, and members of the study team, led by AECOM from Southport, CT, will be at the meeting to discuss the study and answer questions. Members of the community are encouraged to attend for the entire meeting or only a portion of the two-hour period.
