NORWALK RIVER WATERSHED ACTION PLAN UPDATE
SWRPA and watershed stakeholders have been working with HydroQual, Inc. to update the Norwalk River Action Plan. The current Watershed Action Plan was created by the Norwalk River Watershed Initiative in 1998, and revised in 2004.
The updated Watershed Based Plan (WBP) has been Submitted to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) for final approval.

The purpose of the plan update is to:
- Identify management measures to reduce impairments resulting from Non-Point Source Pollution and address the impairments plaguing the river as identified by the DEP's List of Connecticut Waterbodies Not Meeting Water Quality Standards.
- Incorporate the Nine Elements of Watershed Planning established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
- To develop a Watershed Based Management Plan for the Norwalk River for use by municipalities, watershed organizations and local stake holders.
