Connecticut State statutes require quarterly meetings involving the eight-member muncipalities' chief elected officials regarding issues related to regional planning.

In February 2009, the first session was held with U.S. Congressman Jim Himes dealing with the Agency's Regional Housing Summit, a proposed U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Study of South Western Region rivers and the work in progress on the preparation of a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS).
